Mission Statement University of the West (formerly known as Hsi Lai University) is a private, nonprofit, non-sectarian, co-educational university offering undergraduate, graduate, certificate and continuing education programs consistent with the educational mission of California higher education degree-granting institutions. The University is approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE) of the State of California.
