Welcome to the English Language Institute (ELI)! Learning English as a second language (ESL) is more than an investment into your personal or professional life, it’s a way to connect with the world. At ELI, we offer a number of English programs for your communicative language needs. Courses at ELI provide an interactive and meaningful learning experience. We pride ourselves on helping students develop English fluency through comprehensive curriculum, innovative approaches and a student centered learning.

ELI programs include:

  • Intensive English Summer Program (IEP)
  • English for Specific Purposes (ESP)

English for Academic Purposes

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program is designed to meet the needs of English language learning students who are interested in attending UWest degree or other U.S. university degree programs. The EAP helps students acquire the language skills and cultural understanding necessary for academic success while living in the United States. Students from a variety of backgrounds come together in small classes to study and practice all fundamental English skills in meaningful and authentic contexts to develop critical thinking and independent learning skills necessary for college.

The EAP Program is offered during the Fall and Spring semesters that run for 16 weeks each.

Intensive English Summer Program

Intensive English Summer Program

The Intensive English Summer Program (IESP) is an immersive English program that focuses on developing a learner’s general English skills for everyday communicative needs. Curriculum is focuses on an integrated skills approach so that students are immersed in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar respectively.

The IEP Program is offered during the Summer II semester and runs for 6 weeks.

English for Specific Purposes Program

English for Specific Purposes Program

English for Specific Purposes provides working professionals and busy students with specific language instruction and support through a series of scheduled six-week modules with courses conveniently scheduled on evenings and weekends. The curriculum is designed to help students improve their English proficiency for personal, professional, and academic purposes.

Program of American Cultural Exchange

Program of American Cultural Exchange

The Program of American Cultural Exchange (PACE) offers customized group programs that are designed for a variety of age/educational levels, professions and interests. Groups can attend classes and live in our campus facilities while visiting Los Angeles. In addition to small interactive classes, students also enjoy exhilarating excursions and field trips to enhance English learning and immerse them into the American cultural experience.
