Additional One Time Fees for All Payment Options

  • Contract Processing Fee
    $50.00 – Non-refundable, assessed to your account after you submit your contract.
  • Housing Security Deposit
    $150.00 – included in the total cost of Room & Board; it is not a deposit and will not be refunded at the end of the year.
  • Mail Processing Fee
    $20.00/semester – Non-refundable fee for processing and delivering mail.

The security deposit will be included in your first installment payment and will be assessed to your University account in August.

Payment Information

Room & Board installment payments are due on the first day of classes for continuing students and the first Friday of the first week for new incoming students. Even if you do not receive a printed Accounting statement, you are responsible for making your payment by the due date. If the housing installment payment is not received by 4 p.m. on the due dates, a $100.00 late fee will be charged. Please make the payments on time to avoid a late fee.

If you have financial hardship and cannot make housing payments, you may petition to enter into a payment plan with the approval of the CFO, Dean of Student Affairs, and Director of Housing and Residential Life.

Meal Plans

Students have the option of our two (2) standard meal plans are 250 and 200 meals per semester.

All residents are required to purchase a standard meal plan. You pay for the meal plan with your room and board fees. If you use all your meals, you can purchase more meals through the Accounting Office.

Unused meals are non-refundable and do not roll over to summer nor to the next academic year.
You may not use your meals for others, only for yourself. Your meal plan is for your use only.
Guests are permitted in the dining hall but they must purchase their meals at the guest meal rate (currently $6.30 per meal). See the Dining Policies for more information.

Billable Days

The Residence Hall Room & Board Contract is for an entire semester. Fees are billed on a daily rate based on your Room Type and Meal Plan. For the University’s 2017-2018 academic calendar the total billable days 119.

The total billable days do not include Winter Break. Days that are not billed in this cycle are:

  • December 10, 2017 – January 12, 2018 Winter Break


  • There is no fee for cancelling the contract on or before the cancellation deadlines.
    • Cancellation Deadlines:
      • Fall 2017: June 30, 2017
      • Spring 2018: December 31, 2017
  • There is a $100 fee for canceling after the cancellations deadlines. In addition to the fee, we will only accept the cancellation after the deadline if you have also cancelled your 2017-2018 UWest Registration or if we have a replacement for you.

If you are released from your Contract and you move out of the residence halls before the end of the Contract, fees will be reimbursed prorated to the Contract cancellation date. A final review of your account (Room and Board and Plus Plan usage) will determine if you would receive a refund or be required to pay additional fees.

Staying When the University is Closed – Break Housing

The residence halls close during the University’s Winter Break period. During this time, students do not have access to their room and are not charged for room and board in their overall rate. In order to accommodate our international, out-of-state, and foster youth students, we designate a group of buildings to remain open for those who cannot go home. Students who need this “break housing” will pay an additional fee.

Minimal services are provided during these times (i.e. limited meal service, only emergency staffing).

Break housing applications will be available once we near Winter Break. The additional fees are due December 8, 2017.

  • Thanksgiving Break – Included in your contract
  • Winter Break only – December 10, 2017 – January 12, 2018
    • Single Occupancy Room: $1085.62
    • Double Occupancy Room: $623.56
    • Triple Occupancy Room: $470.56
  • Spring Break – Included in your contract
