Sarvākārajñatācaryā prathamaḥ parivartaḥ|
evaṁ mayā śrutam| ekasmin
samaye bhagavān rājagṛhe viharati sma gṛdhakūṭe parvate mahatā
bhikṣusaṁghena sārdhamardhatrayodaśabhirbhikṣuśataiḥ,
sarvairarhadbhiḥ kṣīṇāsravairniḥkleśairvaśībhūtaiḥ suvimuktacittaiḥ
suvimuktaprajñairājñairājāneyairmahānāgaiḥ kṛtakṛtyaiḥ
kṛtakaraṇīyairapahṛtabhārairanuprāptasvakārthaiḥ
parikṣīṇabhavasaṁyojanaiḥ samyagājñāsuvimuktacittaiḥ
sarvacetovaśiparamapāramiprāptairekaṁ pudgalaṁ sthāpayitvā yaduta
āyuṣmantamānandam||
tatra khalu
bhagavānāyuṣmantaṁ subhūtiṁ sthaviramāmantrayate sma-pratibhātu te
subhūte bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānāṁ prajñāpāramitāmārabhya yathā
bodhisattvā mahāsattvāḥ prajñāpāramitā niryāyuriti||
atha khalvāyuṣmataḥ
śāriputrasyaitadabhavat-kimayamāyuṣmān subhūtiḥ sthavira ātmīyena
svakena prajñāpratibhānabalādhānena svakena
prajñāpratibhānabalādhiṣṭhānena bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānāṁ
prajñāpāramitāmupadekṣyati utāho buddhānubhāveneti?
atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbuddhānubhāvena āyuṣmataḥ śāriputrasya imamevarūpaṁ cetasaiva
cetaḥparivitarkamājñāya āyuṣmantaṁ śāriputrametadavocat-yatkiṁcidāyuṣman
śāriputra bhagavataḥ śrāvakā bhāṣante deśayanti upadiśanti udīrayanti
prakāśayanti saṁprakāśayanti,
sa sarvastathāgatasya puruṣakāro veditavyaḥ| tatkasya hetoḥ?
yo hi tathāgatena dharmo deśitaḥ,
tatra dharmadeśanāyāṁ śikṣamāṇāste tāṁ dharmatāṁ sākṣātkurvanti
dhārayanti, tāṁ
dharmatāṁ sākṣātkṛtya dhārayitvā yadyadeva bhāṣante,
yadyadeva deśayanti,
yadyadeva upadiśanti,
yadyadevodīrayanti,
yadyadeva prakāśayanti,
yadyadeva saṁprakāśayanti,
sarvaṁ taddharmatayā aviruddham| tathāgatadharmadeśanāyā eva āyuṣman
śāriputra eṣa niṣyandaḥ yatte kulaputrā upadiśantastāṁ dharmatāṁ
dharmatayā na virodhayanti||
atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbuddhānubhāvena
bhagavantametadavocat-yadbhagavānevamāha-pratibhātu te subhūte
bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānāṁ prajñāpāramitāmārabhya yathā bodhisattvā
mahāsattvāḥ prajñāpāramitāṁ niryāyuriti| bodhisattvo bodhisattva iti
yadidaṁ bhagavannucyate,
katamasyaitadbhagavan dharmasyādhivacanaṁ yaduta bodhisattva iti?
nāhaṁ bhagavaṁstaṁ dharmaṁ samanupaśyāmi yaduta bodhisattva iti|
tamapyahaṁ bhagavan dharmaṁ na samanupaśyāmi yaduta prajñāpāramitā nāma|
so'haṁ bhagavan bodhisattvaṁ vā bodhisattvadharmaṁ vā avindan
anupalabhamāno'samanupaśyan,
prajñāpāramitāmapyavindan anupalabhamāno'samanupaśyan katamaṁ
bodhisattvaṁ katamasyāṁ prajñāpāramitāyāmavavadiṣyāmi anuśāsiṣyāmi?
api tu khalu punarbhagavan sacedevaṁ bhāṣyamāṇe deśyamāne upadiśyamāne
bodhisattvasya cittaṁ nāvalīyate na saṁlīyate na viṣīdati na
viṣādamāpadyate,
nāsya vipṛṣṭhībhavati mānasam,
na bhagnapṛṣṭhībhavati,
notrasyati na saṁtrasyati na saṁtrāsamāpadyate,
eṣa eva bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāyāmanuśāsanīyaḥ| eṣaivāsya
bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya prajñāpāramitā veditavyā| eṣo'vavādaḥ
prajñāpāramitāyām| sacedevaṁ tiṣṭhati,
eṣaivāsyāvavādānuśāsanī||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan
bodhisattvena mahāsattvena prajñāpāramitāyāṁ caratā prajñāpāramitāyāṁ
bhāvayatā evaṁ śikṣitavyaṁ yathā asau śikṣyamāṇastenāpi bodhicittena na
manyeta| tatkasya hetoḥ?
tathā hi-taccittamacittam| prakṛtiścittasya prabhāsvarā||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-kiṁ punarāyuṣman subhūte asti taccittaṁ
yaccittamacittam?
evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ śāriputrametadavocat kiṁ
punarāyuṣman śāriputra yā acittatā,
tatra acittatāyāmastitā vā nāstitā vā vidyate vā upalabhyate vā?
śāriputra āha-na hyetadāyuṣman subhūte| subhūtirāha-sacedāyuṣman
śāriputra tatra acittatāyāmastitā vā nāstitā vā na vidyate vā
nopalabhyate vā, api
nu te yukta eṣa paryanuyogo bhavati yadāyuṣmān śāriputra evamāha-asti
taccittaṁ yaccittamacittamiti?
evamukte āyuṣmān śāriputra āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-kā punareṣā
āyuṣman subhūte acittatā
?
subhūtirāha-avikārā āyuṣman śāriputra avikalpā acittatā||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmate subhūtaye sādhukāramadāt-sādhu sādhvāyuṣman subhūte| yathāpi
nāma tvaṁ bhagavatā araṇāvihāriṇāmagratāyāṁ nirdiṣṭo nirdiśasi| ataśca
bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'vinivartanīyo'nuttarāyāḥ
samyaksaṁbodherupaparīkṣitavyaḥ,
avirahitaśca bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāyā veditavyaḥ|
śrāvakabhūmāvapi śikṣitukāmena iyameva prajñāpāramitā śrotavyā
udgrahītavyā dhārayitavyā vācayitavyā paryavāptavyā pravartayitavyā|
ihaiva prajñāpāramitāyāṁ śikṣitavyaṁ yogamāpattavyam|
pratyekabuddhabhūmāvapi śikṣitukāmena iyameva prajñāpāramitā śrotavyā
udgrahītavyā dhārayitavyā vācayitavyā paryavāptavyā pravartayitavyā|
ihaiva prajñāpāramitāyāṁ śikṣitavyaṁ yogamāpattavyam|
bodhisattvabhūmāvapi śikṣitukāmena iyameva prajñāpāramitā śrotavyā
udgrahītavyā dhārayitavyā vācayitavyā paryavāptavyā pravartayitavyā|
ihaiva prajñāpāramitāyāmupāyakauśalyasamanvāgatena
sarvabodhisattvadharmasamudāgamāya yogaḥ karaṇīyaḥ| tatkasya hetoḥ?
ihaiva hi prajñāpāramitāyāṁ vistareṇa sarvabodhisattvadharmā upadiṣṭāḥ,
yatra bodhisattvena mahāsattvena śikṣitavyaṁ yogamāpattavyam|
anuttarāyāmapi samyaksaṁbodhau śikṣitukāmena iyameva prajñāpāramitā
śrotavyā udgrahītavyā dhārayitavyā vācayitavyā paryavāptavyā
pravartayitavyā| ihaiva prajñāpāramitāyāmupāyakauśalyasamanvāgatena
sarvabuddhadharmasamudāgamāya yogaḥ karaṇīyaḥ| tatkasya hetoḥ?
ihaiva hi prajñāpāramitāyāṁ vistareṇa sarvabuddha dharmā upadiṣṭāḥ,
yatra bodhisattvena mahāsattvena śikṣitavyaṁ yogamāpattavyam||
atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-yo'haṁ bhagavan etadeva
bodhisattvanāmadheyaṁ na vedmi nopalabhe na samanupaśyāmi,
prajñāpāramitāmapi na vedmi nopalabhe na samanupaśyāmi| so'haṁ bhagavan
etadeva bodhisattvanāmadheyamavindan anupalabhamāno'samanupaśyan
prajñāpāramitāmapi avindan anupalabhamāno'samanupaśyan katamaṁ
bodhisattvaṁ katamasyāṁ prajñāpāramitāyāmavavadiṣyāmi anuśāsiṣyāmi?
etadeva bhagavan kaukṛtyaṁ syāt,
yo'haṁ vastvavindan anupalabhamāno'samanupaśyan nāmadheyamātreṇa
āyavyayaṁ kuryāṁ yaduta bodhisattva iti| api tu khalu
punarbhagavaṁstadapi nāmadheyaṁ na sthitaṁ nāsthitaṁ na viṣṭhitaṁ
nāviṣṭhitam| tatkasya hetoḥ?
avidyamānatvena tasya nāmadheyasya| evaṁ tannāmadheyaṁ na sthitaṁ
nāsthitaṁ na viṣṭhitaṁ nāviṣṭhitam| sacedbodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya
evaṁ gambhīrāyāṁ prajñāpāramitāyāṁ bhāṣyamāṇāyāṁ
deśyamānāyāmupadiśyamānāyāṁ cittaṁ nāvalīyate na saṁlīyate na viṣīdati
na viṣādamāpadyate,
nāsya vipṛṣṭhībhavati mānasam,
na bhagnapṛṣṭhībhavati,
notrasyati na saṁtrasyati na saṁtrāsamāpadyate| adhimucyate'dhyāśayena
avirahito bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāyā veditavyaḥ,
sthito'vinivartanīyāyāṁ bodhisattvabhūmau,
susthito'sthānayogena| punaraparaṁ bhagavan bodhisattvena mahāsattvena
prajñāpāramitāyāṁ caratā prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayatā na rūpe sthātavyaṁ na
vedanāyāṁ na saṁjñāyāṁ na saṁskāreṣu,
na vijñāne sthātavyam| tatkasya hetoḥ?
sacedrūpe tiṣṭhati,
rūpābhisaṁskāre carati,
na carati prajñāpāramitāyām| evaṁ sacedvedanāyāṁ saṁjñāyāṁ saṁskāreṣu|
sacedvijñāne tiṣṭhati,
vijñānābhisaṁskāre carati,
na carati prajñāpāramitāyām| tatkasya hetoḥ?
na hi abhisaṁskāre caran prajñāpāramitāṁ parigṛhṇāti,
nāpi prajñāpāramitāyāṁ yogamāpadyate,
nāpi prajñāpāramitāṁ paripūrayate| aparipūrayamāṇaḥ prajñāpāramitāṁ na
niryāsyati sarvajñatāyāmaparigṛhītaṁ parigṛhṇan| tatkasya hetoḥ?
rūpaṁ hi aparigṛhītaṁ prajñāpāramitāyām| evaṁ vedanā saṁjñā saṁskārāḥ|
vijñānaṁ hi aparigṛhītaṁ prajñāpāramitāyām| yaśca rūpasyāparigrahaḥ,
na tadrūpam| evaṁ yo vedanāyāḥ saṁjñāyāḥ saṁskārāṇām| yo
vijñānasyāparigrahaḥ,
na tadvijñānam| sāpi prajñāpāramitā aparigṛhītā| evaṁ hyatra
bodhisattvena mahāsattvena prajñāpāramitāyāṁ caritavyam| ayaṁ ca
bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya sarvadharmāparigṛhīto nāma samādhirvipulaḥ
puraskṛtaḥ apramāṇaniyato'sādhāraṇaḥ| sarvaśrāvakapratyekabuddhaiḥ sāpi
sarvajñatā aparigṛhītā,
na hi nimittato grahītavyā| sacennimittato grahītavyā abhaviṣyat,
na ceha śreṇikaḥ parivrājakaḥ śraddhāmalapsyata| tatra hi śreṇikaḥ
parivrājakaḥ sarvajñajñāne adhimucya śraddhānusārī prādeśikena
jñānenāvatīrṇaḥ| so'vatīrya na rūpaṁ parigṛhṇīte| evaṁ na vedanāṁ na
saṁjñāṁ na saṁskārān| na vijñānaṁ parigṛhṇīte| nāpi tatra prītisukhena
tajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| nādhyātmaṁ rūpasya tajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| na
vahirdhā rūpasya tajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| nādhyātmabahirdhā rūpasya
tajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| nāpyanyatra rūpāttajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| evaṁ
nādhyātmaṁ vedanāyāḥ saṁjñāyāḥ saṁskārāṇām| nādhyātmaṁ vijñānasya
tajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| na vahirdhā vijñānasya tajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati|
nādhyātmavahirdhā vijñānasya tajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| nāpyanyatra
vijñānāttajjñānaṁ samanupaśyati| atra padaparyāye śreṇikaḥ
parivrājako'dhimuktaḥ| so'tra sarvatra śraddhānusārī sarvajñajñāne
dharmatāṁ pramāṇīkṛtya evamadhimukta iti| tena na kaściddharmaḥ
parigṛhītaḥ| nāpi sa kaściddharmo ya upalabdhaḥ,
yaṁ gṛhṇīyānmuñcedvā| sa nirvāṇamapi na manyate| iyamapi bhagavan
bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya prajñāpāramitā veditavyā yadrūpaṁ na
parigṛhṇīte | evaṁ yadvedanāṁ saṁjñāṁ saṁskārān| yadvijñānaṁ na
parigṛhṇīte| na cāntarā parinirvāti,
aparipūrṇairdaśabhistathāgatabalaiścaturbhistathāgatavaiśāradyairaṣṭādaśabhiśca
āveṇikairbuddhadharmaiḥ| tasmādiyamapi bhagavan bodhisattvasya
mahāsattvasya prajñāpāramitā veditavyā||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan
bodhisattvena mahāsattvena prajñāpāramitāyāṁ caratā prajñāpāramitāṁ
bhāvayatā evamupaparīkṣitavyamevamupanidhyātavyam-katamaiṣā
prajñāpāramitā? kasya
caiṣā prajñāpāramitā?
kiṁ yo dharmo na vidyate nopalabhyate,
sā prajñāpāramiteti?
sacedevamupaparīkṣamāṇaḥ evamupanidhyāyan nāvalīyate na saṁlīyate na
viṣīdati na viṣādamāpadyate,
nāsya vipṛṣṭhībhavati mānasam,
na bhagnapṛṣṭhībhavati,
notrasyati na saṁtrasyati na saṁtrāsamāpadyate,
avirahito bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitayā veditavyaḥ||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-kiṁ kāraṇamāyuṣman subhūte avirahito
bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitayā veditavyaḥ?
yadā rūpameva virahitaṁ rūpasvabhāvena,
evaṁ yadā vedanaiva saṁjñaiva saṁskārā eva,
yadā vijñānameva virahitaṁ vijñānasvabhāvena,
yadā prajñāpāramitaiva virahitā prajñāpāramitāsvabhāvena,
yadā sarvajñataiva virahitā sarvajñatāsvabhāvena||
evamukte āyuṣmān
subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ śāriputrametadavocat-etametadāyuṣman śāriputra
evametat| rūpamevāyuṣman śāriputra virahitaṁ rūpasvabhāvena| evaṁ
vedanaiva saṁjñaiva saṁskārā eva| vijñānamevāyuṣman śāriputra virahitaṁ
vijñānasvabhāvena| prajñāpāramitaiva āyuṣman śāriputra virahitā
prajñāpāramitāsvabhāvena| sarvajñataiva āyuṣman śāriputra virahitā
sarvajñatāsvabhāvena| prajñāpāramitālakṣaṇenāpi prajñāpāramitā virahitā|
lakṣaṇasvabhāvenāpi lakṣaṇaṁ virahitam| lakṣyasvabhāvenāpi lakṣyaṁ
virahitam| svabhāvalakṣaṇenāpi svabhāvo virahitaḥ||
evamukte āyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-kiṁ punarāyuṣman subhūte yo bodhisattvo
mahāsattvo'tra śikṣiṣyate,
sa niryāsyati sarvajñatāyām?
āyuṣmān subhūtirāha-evametadāyuṣman śāriputra,
evametat| yo bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'tra śikṣiṣyate,
sa niryāsyati sarvajñatāyām| tatkasya hetoḥ?
ajātā hyanirjātā hyāyuṣman śāriputra sarvadharmāḥ| evaṁ carata āyuṣman
śāriputra bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya sarvajñatā āsannībhavati| yathā
yathā sarvajñatā āsannībhavati,
tathā tathā sattvaparipācanāya kāyacittapariśuddhirlakṣaṇapariśuddhiḥ
buddhakṣetraśuddhiḥ| buddhaiśca samavadhānaṁ bhavati| evaṁ ca
punarāyuṣman śāriputra bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāyāṁ caran
sarvajñatāyā āsannībhavati||
punaraparamāyuṣmān
subhūtirbodhisattvaṁ mahāsattvamārabhyaivamāha-sacedrūpe carati,
nimitte carati| sacedrūpanimitte carati,
nimitte carati| sacedrūpaṁ nimittamiti carati,
nimitte carati| sa cedrūpasyotpāde carati,
nimitte carati| sacedrūpasya nirodhe carati,
nimitte carati| sacedrūpasya vināśe carati,
nimitte carati| sacedrūpaṁ śūnyamiti carati,
nimitte carati| ahaṁ carāmīti carati,
nimitte carati| ahaṁ bodhisattva iti carati,
nimitte carati| ahaṁ bodhisattva iti hyupalambha eva sa carati| evaṁ
sacedvidanāyāṁ saṁjñāyāṁ saṁskāreṣu| sacedvijñāne carati,
nimitte carati| sacedvijñānanimitte carati,
nimitte carati sacedvijñānaṁ nimittamiti carati,
nimitte carati| sacedvijñānasyotpāde carati,
nimitte carati| sacedvijñānasya nirodhe carati,
nimitte carati| sacedvijñānasya vināśe carati,
nimitte carati| sacedvijñānaṁ śūnyamiti carati,
nimitte carati | ahaṁ carāmīti carati,
nimitte carati| ahaṁ bodhisattva iti carati,
nimitte carati| ahaṁ bodhisattva iti hyupalambha eva sa carati|
sacetpunarasyaivaṁ bhavati-ya evaṁ carati,
sa prajñāpāramitāyāṁ carati,
sa prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayatīti,
nimitta eva sa carati| ayaṁ bodhisattvo'nupāyakuśalo veditavyaḥ||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-kathaṁ punarāyuṣman subhūte caran
bodhisattvo mahāsattvaścarati prajñāpāramitāyām?
evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ śāriputrametadavocat-sacedāyuṣman
śāriputra bodhisattvo mahāsattvo na rūpe carati,
na rūpanimitte carati,
na rūpaṁ nimittamiti carati,
na rūpasyotpāde carati,
na rūpasya nirodhe carati,
na rūpasya vināśe carati,
na rūpaṁ śūnyamiti carati,
nāhaṁ carāmīti carati,
nāhaṁ bodhisattva iti carati| evaṁ sacenna vedanāyāṁ na saṁjñāyāṁ na
saṁskāreṣu| sacenna vijñāne carati,
na vijñānanimitte carati,
na vijñānaṁ nimittamiti carati,
na vijñānasyotpāde carati,
na vijñānasya nirodhe carati,
na vijñānasya vināśe carati,
na vijñānaṁ śūnyamiti carati,
nāhaṁ carāmīti carati,
nāhaṁ bodhisattva iti carati| sacetpunarnāsyaivaṁ bhavati-ya evaṁ carati,
sa prajñāpāramitāyāṁ carati,
sa prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayatīti| evaṁ caran bodhisattvo mahāsattvaścarati
prajñāpāramitāyām| sa hi caraṁścarāmīti nopaiti,
na carāmīti nopaiti,
carāmi ca na carāmi ceti nopaiti,
naiva carāmi na na carāmīti nopaiti,
cariṣyāmīti nopaiti,
na cariṣyāmīti nopaiti,
cariṣyāmi ca na cariṣyāmi ceti nopaiti,
naiva cariṣyāmi na cariṣyāmīti nopaiti| tatkasya hetornopaiti?
sarvadharmā hyanupagatā anupāttāḥ| ayamucyate sarvadharmānupādāno nāma
samādhirbodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya,
vipulaḥ puraskṛto'pramāṇaniyato'sādhāraṇaḥ sarvaśrāvakapratyekabuddhaiḥ|
anenaiva samādhinā viharan bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ kṣipramanuttarāṁ
samyaksaṁbodhimabhisaṁbudhyate||
buddhānubhāvena āyuṣmān
subhūtiḥ sthavira evamāha-vyākṛto'yaṁ bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ
pūrvakaistathāgatairarhadbhiḥ samyaksaṁbuddhairanuttarāyāṁ
samyaksaṁbodhau,
yo'nena samādhinā viharati| sa tamapi samādhiṁ na samanupaśyati,
na ca tena samādhinā manyate-ahaṁ samāhitaḥ,
ahaṁ samādhiṁ samāpatsye,
ahaṁ samādhiṁ samāpadye,
ahaṁ samādhisamāpannaḥ,
iti, evaṁ tasya
sarveṇa sarvaṁ sarvathā sarvaṁ na saṁvidyate||
evamukte āyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-katamenāyuṣman subhūte samādhinā viharan
bodhisattvo mahāsattvastathāgatairarhadbhiḥ
samyaksaṁbuddhairvyākriyate'nuttarāyāṁ samyaksaṁbodhau?
śakyaḥ sa samādhirdarśayitum?
subhūtirāha-no hīdamāyuṣman śāriputra| tatkasya hetoḥ?
tamapi hi sa kulaputraḥ samādhiṁ na jānāti,
na saṁjānīte| āyuṣmān śāriputra āha-na jānāti na saṁjānīte ityāyuṣman
subhūte vadasi?
āyuṣmān subhūtirāha-na jānāti na saṁjānīte ityāyuṣman śāriputra vadāmi|
tatkasya hetorna jānāti na saṁjānīte?
avidyamānatvena tasya samādhestaṁ samādhiṁ na jānāti na saṁjānīte| atha
khalu bhagavān āyuṣmate subhūtaye sādhukāramadāt-sādhu sādhu subhūte|
evametatsubhūte,
evametat| yathāpi nāma tathāgatānubhāvena te pratibhāti,
tathāgatādhiṣṭhānenopadiśasi| evaṁ cātra bodhisattvena mahāsattvena
śikṣitavyam| tatkasya hetoḥ?
evaṁ hi śikṣamāṇo bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāyāṁ śikṣate||

bhagavantametadavocat-evaṁ śikṣamāṇo bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ
katamasmin dharme śikṣate?
evamukte bhagavānāyuṣmantaṁ śāriputrametadavocat evaṁ śikṣamāṇaḥ
śāriputra bodhisattvo mahāsattvo na kasmiṁściddharme śikṣate| tatkasya
hetoḥ? na hi te
śāriputra dharmāstathā saṁvidyante yathā bālapṛthagjanā
aśrutavanto'bhiniviṣṭāḥ| āyuṣmān śāriputra āha-kathaṁ tarhi te bhagavan
saṁvidyante?
bhagavānāha-yathā śāriputra na saṁvidyante,
tathā saṁvidyante evamavidyamānāḥ| tenocyante avidyeti| tān
bālapṛthagjanā aśrutavanto'bhiniviṣṭāḥ| tairasaṁvidyamānāḥ sarvadharmāḥ
kalpitāḥ| te tān kalpayitvā dvayorantayoḥ saktāḥ tān dharmānna jānanti
na paśyanti| tasmātte'saṁvidyamānān sarvadharmān kalpayanti| kalpayitvā
dvāvantāvabhiniviśante abhiniviśya tannidānamupalambhaṁ niśritya atītān
dharmān kalpayanti,
anāgatān dharmān kalpayanti,
pratyutpannān dharmān kalpayanti te kalpayitvā nāmarūpe'bhiniviṣṭāḥ|
tairasaṁvidyamānāḥ sarvadharmāḥ kalpitāḥ| te tānasaṁvidyamānān
sarvadharmān kalpayanto yathābhūtaṁ mārgaṁ na jānanti na paśyanti|
yathābhūtaṁ mārgamajānanto'paśyanto na niryānti traidhātukāt,
na budhyante bhūtakoṭim| tena te bālā iti saṁjñāṁ gacchanti| te satyaṁ
dharmaṁ na śraddhadhati| na khalu punaḥ śāriputra bodhisattvā mahāsattvā
kaṁciddharmamabhiniviśante||
evamukte āyuṣmān śāriputro
bhagavantametadavocat-evaṁ śikṣamāṇo bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ
sarvajñatāyāṁ śikṣate?
bhagavānāha-evaṁ śikṣamāṇaḥ śāriputra bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ
sarvajñatāyāmapi na śikṣate| evaṁ śikṣamāṇaḥ śāriputra bodhisattvo
mahāsattvaḥ sarvadharmeṣu śikṣate| evaṁ śikṣamāṇaḥ śāriputra bodhisattvo
mahāsattvaḥ sarvajñatāyāṁ śikṣate,
sarvajñatāyā āsannībhavati,
sarvajñatāyāṁ niryāsyati||
atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-yo bhagavan evaṁ paripṛcchet-kimayaṁ
māyāpuruṣāḥ sarvajñatāyāṁ śikṣiṣyate,
sarvajñatāyā āsannībhaviṣyati,
sarvajñatāyāṁ niryāsyatīti?
tasya bhagavan evaṁ paripṛcchataḥ kathaṁ nirdeṣṭavyaṁ syāt?
evamukte bhagavānāyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-tena hi subhūte
tvāmevātra pratiprakṣyāmi| yathā te kṣamate,
tathā vyākuryāḥ| sādhu bhagavannityāyuṣmān subhūtirbhagavataḥ
pratyaśrauṣīt| bhagavānetadavocat-tatkiṁ manyase subhūte anyā sā māyā,
anyattadrūpam, anyā
sā māyā, anyā sā
vedanā| anyā sā saṁjñā,
anye te saṁskārāḥ| anyā sā māyā,
anyattadvijñānam?
subhūtirāha-na hyetadbhagavan| na hi bhagavan anyā sā māyā
anyattadrūpam| rūpameva bhagavan māyā,
māyaiva rūpam| na hi bhagavan anyā sā māyā anyā sā vedanā,
anyā sā saṁjñā anye te saṁskārāḥ| vedanā saṁjñā saṁskārā eva bhagavan
māyā, māyaiva
vedanāsaṁjñāsaṁskārāḥ| na bhagavan anyā sā māyā anyattadvijñānam|
vijñānameva bhagavan māyā,
māyaiva vijñānam||
bhagavānāha-tatkiṁ manyase
subhūte atraiṣāṁ saṁjñā samajñā prajñaptirvyavahāraḥ
pañcasūpādānaskandheṣu yaduta bodhisattva iti?
evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-evametadbhagavan,
evametatsugata| tena hi bhagavan bodhisattvena mahāsattvena
prajñapāramitāyāṁ śikṣamāṇena māyāpuruṣeṇeva śikṣitavyaṁ
bhavatyanuttarāyāṁ samyaksaṁbodhau| tatkasya hetoḥ?
sa eva hi bhagavan māyāpuruṣo dhārayitavyo yaduta pañcopādānaskandhāḥ|
tatkasya hetoḥ? tathā
hi bhagavan māyopamaṁ rūpamuktaṁ bhagavatā| yacca rūpaṁ tatṣaḍindriyaṁ
te pañca skandhāḥ| tathā hi bhagavan māyopamā vedanāsaṁjñāsaṁskārā
uktāḥ| tathā hi bhagavan māyopamaṁ vijñānamuktaṁ bhagavatā| yacca
vijñānaṁ tatṣaḍindriyaṁ te pañca skandhāḥ| mā bhagavan
navayānasaṁprasthitā bodhisattvā mahāsattvā imaṁ nirdeśaṁ śrutvā
utrasiṣuḥ saṁtrasiṣuḥ saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| bhagavānāha-yadi subhūte
navayānasaṁprasthitā bodhisattvā mahāsattvāḥ pāpamitrahastagatā
bhaviṣyanti,
utrasiṣyanti saṁtrasiṣyanti saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| atha cetsubhūte
navayānasaṁprasthitā bodhisattvā mahāsattvāḥ kalyāṇamitrahastagatā
bhaviṣyanti,
notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante||
evamukte āyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-kāni punarbhagavan bodhisattvasya
mahāsattvasya kalyāṇamitrāṇi veditavyāni?
bhagavānāha-ya enaṁ pāramitāsu avavadanti anuśāsati| ye'smai
mārakarmāṇyupadiśanti| evaṁ māradoṣā boddhavyāḥ-ime māradoṣāḥ| evaṁ
mārakarmāṇi boddhavyāni-imāni mārakarmāṇi| tāni tvayā buddhvā
vivarjayitavyānīti| imāni subhūte bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya
mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddhasya mahāyānasaṁprasthitasya mahāyānasamārūḍhasya
kalyāṇamitrāṇi veditavyāni| evamukte āyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-yadbhagavānevamāha-imāni subhūte
bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddhasya
mahāyānasaṁprasthitasya mahāyānasamārūḍhasya kalyāṇamitrāṇi
veditavyānīti| yacca bodhisattvo mahāsattva iti bhagavannucyate,
tatra bodhisattva iti bhagavan kaḥ padārtha?
evamukte bhagavānāyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-apadārthaḥ subhūte
bodhisattvapadārthaḥ| tatkasya hetoḥ?
sarvadharmāṇāṁ hi subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'saktatāyāṁ śikṣate|
sarvadharmāṇāṁ hi subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'nubodhanārthena
asaktatāyāmanuttarāṁ samyaksaṁbodhimabhisaṁbudhyate| bodhyarthena tu
subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattva ityucyate|
subhūtirāha-yatpunarbhagavānevamāha-bodhisattvo mahāsattva iti,
kena kāraṇena bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattva ityucyate?
bhagavānāha-mahataḥ sattvarāśermahataḥ sattvanikāyasya agratāṁ
kārayiṣyati,
tenārthena bodhisattvo mahāsattva ityucyate||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputro
bhagavantametadavocat-mamāpi bhagavan pratibhātiyenārthena bodhisattvo
mahāsattva ityucyate| bhagavānāha-pratibhātu te śāriputra yasyedānīṁ
kālaṁ manyase| āyuṣmān śāriputra āha-mahatyā ātmadṛṣṭyāḥ sattvadṛṣṭyāḥ
jīvadṛṣṭyāḥ pudgala dṛṣṭyāḥ bhavadṛṣṭyāḥ vibhavadṛṣṭyāḥ ucchedadṛṣṭyāḥ
śāśvatadṛṣṭyāḥ svakāyadṛṣṭyāḥ,
etāsāmevamādyānāṁ dṛṣṭīnāṁ prahāṇāya dharmaṁ deśayiṣyatīti,
tenārthena bodhisattvo mahāsattva ityucyate| atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-mamāpi bhagavan pratibhāti yenārthena
bodhisattvo mahāsattva ityucyate| bhagavānāha-pratibhātu te subhūte
yasyedānīṁ kālaṁ manyase| subhūtirāha-bodhisattvo mahāsattva iti
bhagavannucyate| yadapi tadbhagavan bodhicittaṁ
sarvajñatācittamanāsravaṁ cittamasamaṁ cittaṁ asamasamaṁ
cittamasādhāraṇaṁ sarvaśrāvakapratyekabuddhaiḥ,
tatrāpi citte asakto'paryāpannaḥ| tatkasya hetoḥ?
tathā hi tatsarvajñatācittamanāsravamaparyāpannaṁ tat,
yadapi tatsarvajñatācittamanāsravamaparyāpannam| tatrāpi citte
asakto'paryāpannaḥ| tenārthena bodhisattvo mahāsattva iti saṁkhyāṁ
gacchati||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-kena kāraṇena āyuṣman subhūte tatrāpi
citte asakto'paryāpannaḥ?
subhūtirāha-acittatvādāyuṣman śāriputra tatrāpi citte
asakto'paryāpannaḥ||
śāriputra āha-kiṁ
punarāyuṣman subhūte asti taccittaṁ yaccittamacittam?
subhūtirāha-kiṁ punarāyuṣman śāriputra tatra acittatāyāmastitā vā
nāstitā vā vidyate vā upalabhyate vā?
śāriputra āha-no hīdamāyuṣman subhūte| subhūtirāha-tadyadi āyuṣman
śāriputra tatra acittatāyāmastitā vā nāstitā vā na vidyate vā
nopalabhyate vā,
tatkathamāyuṣmān śāriputra evamāha-asti taccittaṁ yaccittamacittamiti?
śāriputra āha-sādhu sādhu āyuṣman subhūte| yathāpi nāma tvaṁ bhagavatā
araṇāvihāriṇāmagratāyāṁ nirdiṣṭo nirdiśasi||
atha khalvāyuṣmān pūrṇo
maitrāyaṇīputro bhagavantametadavocat-mahāsattvo mahāsattva iti yadidaṁ
bhagavannucyate,
mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddhaḥ sa sattvaḥ| mahāyānasaṁprasthito
mahāyānasamārūḍhaśca sa sattvaḥ| tasmātsa mahāsattvo mahāsattva iti
saṁkhyāṁ gacchati||
atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddho mahāyānasaṁnaddha iti
yadidaṁ bhagavannucyate,
kiyatā bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvo mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddho bhavati
? bhagavānāha-iha
subhūte bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasyaivaṁ bhavati-aprameyā mayā sattvāḥ
parinirvāpayitavyā iti| asaṁkhyeyā mayā sattvāḥ parinirvāpayitavyā iti|
na ca te santi yairye parinirvāpayitavyā iti| sa tāṁstāvataḥ sattvān
parinirvāpayati| na ca sa kaścitsattvo yaḥ parinirvṛto yena ca
parinirvāpito bhavati| tatkasya hetoḥ?
dharmataiṣā subhūte dharmāṇāṁ māyādharmatāmupādāya syāt| yathāpi nāma
subhūte dakṣo māyākaro vā māyākārāntevāsī vā caturmahāpathe mahāntaṁ
janakāyamabhinirmimīte| abhinirmāya tasyaiva mahato
janakāyasyāntardhānaṁ kuryāt| tatkiṁ manyase subhūte api nu tatra
kenacitkaściddhato vā mṛto vā nāśito vā antarhito vā?
subhūtirāha-no hīdaṁ bhagavan| bhagavānāha-evameva subhūte bodhisattvo
mahāsattvo'prameyānasaṁkhyeyān sattvān parinirvāpayati| na ca sa
kaścitsattvo yaḥ parinirvṛto yena ca parinirvāpito bhavati|
sacedbodhisattvo mahāsattva imaṁ nirdeśamevaṁ nirdiśyamānaṁ śrutvā
notrasyati na saṁtrasyati na saṁtrāsamāpadyate,
iyatā ayaṁ subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvo mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddho
veditavyaḥ||
atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-yathāhaṁ bhagavan bhagavato
bhāṣitasyārthamājānāmi,
tathā asaṁnāhasaṁnaddho batāyaṁ bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvo
veditavyaḥ| bhagavānāha-evametatsubhūte,
evametat| asaṁnāhasaṁnaddho batāyaṁ bodhisattvo mahāsattvo veditavyaḥ|
tatkasya hetoḥ? akṛtā
hi subhūte sarvajñatā avikṛtā anabhisaṁskṛtā| te'pi sattvā akṛtā avikṛtā
anabhisaṁskṛtāḥ,
yeṣāṁ sattvānāmarthāya ayaṁ saṁnāhasaṁnaddhaḥ||
evamukte āyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-evametadbhagavan,
evametatsugata| tatkasya hetoḥ?
tathā hi bhagavan rūpamabaddhamamuktam| evaṁ vedanāsaṁjñāsaṁskārāḥ|
tathā hi bhagavan vijñānamabaddhamamuktam| rūpatathatāpi bhagavan

maitrāyaṇīputra āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-rūpamāyuṣman subhūte
abaddhamamuktamiti vadasi| evaṁ vedanāsaṁjñāsaṁskārāḥ| vijñānamāyuṣman
subhūte abaddhamamuktamiti vadasi| rūpatathatāpi āyuṣman subhūte abaddhā
amukteti vadasi| evaṁ vedanātathatāpi saṁjñātathatāpi saṁskāratathatāpi|
vijñānatathatāpyāyuṣman subhūte abaddhā amukteti vadasi| atha
katamattadāyuṣman subhūte rūpaṁ yadrūpamabaddhamamuktamiti vadasi?
evaṁ katamā sā vedanā,
katamā sā saṁjñā,
katame te saṁskārāḥ?
katamattadāyuṣman subhūte vijñānaṁ yadvijñānamabaddhamamuktamiti vadasi?
katamā sā āyuṣman subhūte rūpatathatā yā rūpatathatāpyabaddhā amukteti
vadasi? evaṁ katamā
sā vedanātathatā saṁjñātathatā saṁskāratathatā?
katamā sā āyuṣman subhūte vijñānatathatā yā vijñānatathatāpyabaddhā
amukteti vadasi?
evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ pūrṇaṁ
maitrāyaṇīputrametadavocat-yadāyuṣman pūrṇa māyāpuruṣasya rūpaṁ
tadabaddhamamuktam | evaṁ yā māyāpuruṣasya vedanā,
yā māyāpuruṣasya saṁjñā,
ye māyāpuruṣasya saṁskārāḥ| yadāyuṣman pūrṇa māyāpuruṣasya vijñānaṁ
tadabaddhamamuktam| yā āyuṣman pūrṇa māyāpuruṣasya rūpatathatā sā
abaddhā amuktā| evaṁ yā māyāpuruṣasya vedanātathatā saṁjñātathatā
saṁskāratathatā| yā āyuṣman pūrṇa māyāpuruṣasya vijñānatathatā sā
abaddhā amuktā| tatkasya hetoḥ?
asadbhūtatvādabaddhā amuktā,
viviktatvādabaddhā amuktā,
anutpannatvādabaddhā amuktā| ayaṁ sa bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya
mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddhasya mahāyānasaṁprasthitasya mahāyānasamārūḍhasya
mahāsaṁnāho'saṁnāhaḥ| evamukte āyuṣmān pūrṇo
maitrāyaṇīputrastūṣṇīmabhūt||
atha khalvāyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-evaṁ bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvo
mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddhaḥ san mahāyānasaṁprasthito mahāyānasamārūḍho
bhavati| katamacca tanmahāyānam?
kathaṁ vā tatsaṁprasthito veditavyaḥ?
kuto vā tanmahāyānaṁ niryāsyati?
kena vā tanmahāyānaṁ saṁprasthitam?
kva vā tanmahāyānaṁ sthāsyati?
ko vā anena mahāyānena niryāsyati?
evamukte bhagavānāyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-mahāyānamiti subhūte
aprameyatāyā etadadhivacanam| aprameyamiti subhūte apramāṇatvena| yadapi
subhūte evaṁ vadasi-kathaṁ vā tatsaṁprasthito veditavyaḥ?
kuto vā tanmahāyānaṁ niryāsyati?
kena vā tanmahāyānaṁ saṁprasthitam?
kva vā tanmahāyānaṁ sthāsyati?
ko vā anena mahāyānena niryāsyatīti?
pāramitābhiḥ saṁprasthitaḥ| traidhātukānniryāsyati| yenārambaṇaṁ tena
saṁprasthitam| sarvajñatāyāṁ sthāsyati| bodhisattvo mahāsattvo
niryāsyati, api tu
khalu punarna kutaścinniryāsyati| na kenāpi saṁprasthitam| na
kvacitsthāsyati| api tu sthāsyati sarvajñatāyāmasthānayogena| nāpi
kaścittena mahāyānena niryāto nāpi niryāsyati nāpi niryāti| tatkasya
hetoḥ? yaśca niryāyāt,
yena ca niryāyāt,
ubhāvetau dharmau na vidyete nopalabhyete| evamavidyamāneṣu
sarvadharmeṣu katamo dharmaḥ katamena dharmeṇa niryāsyati?
evaṁ hi subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvo mahāyānasaṁnaddho
mahāyānasaṁprasthito mahāyānasamārūḍho bhavati||
evamukte āyuṣmān
subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-mahāyānaṁ mahāyānamiti bhagavannucyate|
sadevamānuṣāsuraṁ lokamabhibhavanniryāsyati ākāśasamatayā atimahattayā
tanmahāyānam| yathā ākāśe aprameyāṇāmasaṁkhyeyānāṁ sattvānāmavakāśaḥ,
evameva bhagavan asmin yāne aprameyāṇāmasaṁkhyeyānāṁ sattvānāmavakāśaḥ|
anena bhagavan paryāyeṇa mahāyānamidaṁ bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānām|
naivāsyāgamo dṛśyate,
naivāsya nirgamo dṛśyate,
nāpyasya sthānaṁ saṁvidyate| evamasya bhagavan mahāyānasya naiva
pūrvānta upalabhyate,
nāpyaparānta upalabhyate,
nāpi madhya upalabhyate| atha samaṁ bhagavaṁstadyānam| tasmānmahāyānaṁ
mahāyānamityucyate| atha khalu bhagavānāyuṣmate subhūtaye
sādhukāramadāt-sādhu sādhu subhūte| evametatsubhūte,
evametat| evaṁ mahāyānamidaṁ bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānām| atra śikṣitvā
bodhisattvairmahāsattvaiḥ sarvajñatā anuprāptā,
anuprāpsyate anuprāpyate ca||
atha khalvāyuṣmān pūrṇo
maitrāyaṇīputro bhagavantametadavocat-ayaṁ bhagavan subhūtiḥ sthaviraḥ
prajñāpāramitāyāḥ kṛtaśo'dhīṣṭo mahāyānamupadeṣṭavyaṁ manyate| atha
khalvāyuṣmān subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-nāhaṁ bhagavan
prajñāpāramitāṁ vyatikramya mahāyānamavocam| bhagavānāha-no hīdaṁ
subhūte| anulomatvaṁ subhūte prajñāpāramitāyā mahāyānamupadiśasi|
evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-buddhānubhāvādbhagavan|
api nu khalu punarbhagavan pūrvāntato bodhisattvo nopaiti,
aparāntato bodhisattvo nopaiti,
madhyato bodhisattvo nopaiti| tatkasya hetornopaiti?
rūpāparyantatayā hi bodhisattvāparyantatā veditavyā,
evaṁ vedanāsaṁjñā saṁskārāḥ| vijñānāparyantatayā hi
bodhisattvāparyantatā veditavyā| rūpaṁ bodhisattva iti nopaiti| idamapi
na vidyate nopalabhyate| evaṁ vedanāsaṁjñāsaṁskārāḥ| vijñānaṁ
bodhisattva iti nopaiti,
idamapi na vidyate nopalabhyate| evaṁ bhagavan sarveṇa sarvaṁ sarvathā
sarvaṁ bodhisattvadharmamanupalabhamāno nāhaṁ bhagavan taṁ dharmaṁ
samanupaśyāmi yasyaitannāmadheyaṁ yaduta bodhisattva iti|
prajñāpāramitāmapi na samanupaśyāmi nopalabhe| sarvajñatāmapi na
samanupaśyāmi nopalabhe| so'haṁ bhagavan sarveṇa sarvaṁ sarvathā sarvaṁ
taṁ dharmamanupalabhamāno'samanupaśyan katamaṁ dharmaṁ katamena dharmeṇa
katamasmin dharme'vavadiṣyāmi anuśāsiṣyāmi?
buddha iti bhagavan nāmadheyamātrametat| bodhisattva iti bhagavan
nāmadheyamātrametat| prajñāpāramiteti bhagavan nāmadheyamātrametat|
tacca nāmadheyamanabhinirvṛttam| yathā ātmā ātmeti ca bhagavannucyate,
atyantatayā ca bhagavannanabhinirvṛtta ātmā| evamasvabhāvānāṁ
sarvadharmāṇāṁ katamattadrūpaṁ yadagrāhyamanabhinirvṛttam?
katame te vedanāsaṁjñāsaṁskārāḥ?
katamattadvijñānaṁ yadagrāhyamanabhinirvṛttam?
evameteṣāṁ sarvadharmāṇāṁ yā asvabhāvatā,
sā anabhinirvṛttiḥ| yā ca sarvadharmāṇāmanabhinirvṛttirna te dharmāḥ|
tatkimanabhinirvṛttimanabhinirvṛttyāṁ
prajñāpāramitāyāmavavadiṣyāmyanuśāsiṣyāmi?
na cānyatra bhagavan anabhinirvṛttitaḥ sarvadharmā vā buddhadharmā vā
bodhisattvadharmā vā upalabhyante,
yo vā bodhāya caret| sacedbhagavan evaṁ bhāṣyamāṇe evaṁ deśyamāne
evamupadiśyamāne bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya cittaṁ nāvalīyate na
saṁlīyate na viṣīdati na viṣādamāpadyate,
nāsya vipṛṣṭhībhavati mānasaṁ na bhagnapṛṣṭhībhavati notrasyati na
saṁtrasyati na saṁtrāsamāpadyate,
evaṁ veditavyam-caratyayaṁ bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāyām|
bhāvayatyayaṁ bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitām| upaparīkṣate'yaṁ
bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitām| upanidhyāyatyayaṁ bodhisattvo
mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāmiti| tatkasya hetoḥ?
yasmin hi samaye bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ imān dharmān
prajñāpāramitāyāṁ vyupaparīkṣate,
tasmin samaye na rūpamupaiti,
na rūpamupagacchati,
na rūpasyotpādaṁ samanupaśyati,
na rūpasya nirodhaṁ samanupaśyati| evaṁ na vedanāṁ na saṁjñāṁ na
saṁskārān| na vijñānamupaiti,
na vijñānamupagacchati,
na vijñānasyotpādaṁ samanupaśyati,
na vijñānasya nirodhaṁ samanupaśyati| tatkasya hetoḥ?
tathā hi yo rūpasyānutpādo na tadrūpam| yo rūpasyāvyayo na tadrūpam|
ityanutpādaśca rūpaṁ ca advayametadadvaidhīkāram| ityavyayaśca rūpaṁ ca
advayametadadvaidhīkāram| yatpunaretaducyate rūpamiti,
advayasyaiṣā gaṇanā kṛtā| evaṁ tathā hi yo vedanāyāḥ saṁjñāyāḥ
saṁskārāṇām| tathā hi yo vijñānasyānutpādo na tadvijñānam,
yo vijñānasyāvyayo na tadvijñānam| ityanutpādaśca vijñānaṁ ca
advayametadadvaidhīkāram| ityavyayaśca vijñānaṁ ca
advayametadadvaidhīkāram| yatpunaretaducyate vijñānamiti,
advayastaiṣā gaṇanā kṛtā| evaṁ bhagavan prajñāpāramitāyāṁ sarvākāraṁ
sarvadharmān vyupaparīkṣamāṇaḥ tasmin samaye na rūpamupaiti,
na rūpamupagacchati,
na rūpasyotpādaṁ samanupaśyati,
na rūpasya nirodhaṁ samanupaśyati| evaṁ na vedanāṁ na saṁjñāṁ na
saṁskārān| na vijñānamupaiti,
na vijñānamupagacchati,
na vijñānasyotpādaṁ samanupaśyati,
na vijñānasya nirodhaṁ samanupaśyati| tatkasya hetoḥ?
tathā hi yo rūpasyānutpādo na tadrūpam| yo rūpasyāvyayo na tadrūpam|

atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-tena hi yathāhamāyuṣmataḥ
subhūterbhāṣitasyārthamājānāmi,
tathā bodhisattvo'pyanutpādaḥ| yadi ca āyuṣman subhūte
bodhisattvo'pyanutpādaḥ kiṁ bodhisattvo duṣkaracārikāṁ carati?
yāni vā tāni sattvānāṁ kṛtaśo duḥkhānyutsahate pratyanubhavitum?
evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ śāriputrametadavocat-nāhamāyuṣman
śāriputra icchāmi bodhisattvaṁ mahāsattvaṁ duṣkaracārikāṁ carantam nāpi
sa bodhisattvo mahāsattvo yo duṣkarasaṁjñayā carati| tatkasya hetoḥ?
na hi āyuṣman śāriputra duṣkarasaṁjñāṁ janayitvā
śakyo'prameyāṇāmasaṁkhyeyānāṁ sattvānāmarthaḥ kartum| api tu
sukhasaṁjñāmeva kṛtvā| sarvasattvānāmantike mātṛsaṁjñāṁ pitṛsaṁjñāṁ
putrasaṁjñāṁ duhitṛsaṁjñāṁ kṛtvā strīpuruṣeṣu| evametāḥ saṁjñāḥ kṛtvā
bodhisattvo mahāsattvo bodhisattvacārikāṁ carati| tasmānmātṛsaṁjñā
pitṛsaṁjñā putrasaṁjñā duhitṛsaṁjñā bodhisattvena mahāsattvena
sarvasattvānāmantike yāvadātmasaṁjñā utpādayitavyā| yathā ātmā sarveṇa
sarvaṁ sarvathā sarvaṁ sarvaduḥkhebhyo mocayitavyaḥ,
evaṁ sarvasattvāḥ sarveṇa sarvaṁ sarvathā sarvaṁ sarvaduḥkhebhyo
mocayitavyā iti| evaṁ ca sarvasattveṣu saṁjñā utpādayitavyā-mayaite
sarvasattvā na parityaktavyāḥ| mayaite sarvasattvāḥ parimocayitavyā
aparimāṇato duḥkhaskandhāt| na ca mayaiteṣu cittapradoṣa utpādayitavya
antaśaḥ śataśo'pi chidyamāneneti| evaṁ hi bodhisattvena mahāsattvena
cittamutpādayitavyam sacedevaṁcitto vihariṣyati,
na duṣkarasaṁjñī cariṣyati,
na duṣkarasaṁjñī vihariṣyati| punaraparamāyuṣman śāriputra bodhisattvena
mahāsattvena evaṁ cittamutpādayitavyam-yathā sarveṇa sarvaṁ sarvathā
sarvamātmā na vidyate nopalabhyate,
evaṁ sarveṇa sarvaṁ sarvathā sarvaṁ sarvadharmā na saṁvidyante
nopalabhyante| evamādhyātmikabāhyeṣu sarvadharmeṣu saṁjñā
utpādayitavyā| sacedevaṁcittaścariṣyati,
na duṣkarasaṁjñī cariṣyati,
na duṣkarasaṁjñī vihariṣyati| yadapyāyuṣman śāriputra evamāha-anutpādo
bodhisattvo iti| evametadāyuṣman śāriputra,
evametat| anutpādo bodhisattva iti||
śāriputra āha-kiṁ
punarāyuṣman subhūte bodhisattva evānutpādaḥ,
utāho bodhisattvadharmā apyanutpādaḥ?
subhūtirāha-bodhisattvadharmā api āyuṣman śāriputra anutpādaḥ śāriputra
āha-kiṁ punarāyuṣman subhūte bodhisattvadharmā evānutpādaḥ,
utāho sarvajñatāpyanutpādaḥ?
subhūtirāha- sarvajñatāpyāyuṣman śāriputra anutpādaḥ| āha-kiṁ
punarāyuṣman subhūte sarvajñataivānutpādaḥ,
utāho sarvajñatādharmā apyanutpādaḥ?
āha-sarvajñatādharmā apyāyuṣman śāriputra anutpādaḥ| āha-kiṁ
punarāyuṣman subhūte sarvajñatādharmā evānutpādaḥ,
utāho pṛthagjano'pyanutpādaḥ?
āha-pṛthagjano'pyāyuṣman śāriputra anutpādaḥ| āha-kiṁ punarāyuṣman
subhūte pṛthagjana evānutpādaḥ,
utāho pṛthagjanadharmā apyanutpādaḥ?
āha-pṛthagjanadharmā āpyāyuṣman śāriputra anutpādaḥ| evamukte āyuṣmān
śāriputra āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-yadyāyuṣman subhūte
bodhisattvo'pyanutpādaḥ,
bodhisattvadharmā apyanutpādaḥ,
sarvajñatāpyanutpādaḥ,
sarvajñatādharmā apyanutpādaḥ,
pṛthagjano'pyanutpādaḥ,
pṛthagjanadharmā apyanutpādaḥ,
nanvāyuṣman subhūte anuprāptaiva ayatnena bodhisattvena mahāsattvena
sarvajñatā bhavati| evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ
śāriputrametadavocat-nāhamāyuṣman śāriputra anutpannasya dharmasya
prāptimicchāmi,
nāpyabhisamayam| nāpyanutpannena dharmeṇa anutpannā prāptiḥ prāpyate|
āha-kiṁ punarāyuṣman subhūte anutpannena dharmeṇa anutpannā prāptiḥ
prāpyate, utāho
utpannena dharmeṇa anutpannā prāptiḥ prāpyate
?
āha-kiṁ punarāyuṣman śāriputra anutpanno dharma utpannaḥ,
utāho anutpanna eva dharmo'nutpannaḥ?
āha-kiṁ punarāyuṣman subhūte utpāda eva dharmo'nutpādaḥ,
utāho anutpādo dharma utpādaḥ?
āha-utpādo dharmo'nutpādo dharma ityāyuṣman śāriputra na pratibhāti
jalpitum | āha-anutpādo'pi te āyuṣman subhūte pratibhāti jalpitum|
āha-anutpāda evāyuṣman śāriputra jalpaḥ| anutpāda eva āyuṣmān śāriputra
pratibhāti| anutpāda eva āyuṣman śāriputra pratibhānam| evamevāyuṣman
śāriputra atyantaṁ pratibhāti||
evamukte āyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-dhārmakathikānāmāyuṣmān subhūtiragratāyāṁ
sthāpitavyaḥ| tatkasya hetoḥ?
tathā hyāyuṣmān subhūtiḥ sthaviro yato yata eva paripraśnīkriyate,
tatastata eva niḥsarati,
dharmatāyāśca na calati,
tāṁ ca dharmatāṁ na virodhayati| evamukte āyuṣmān subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ
śāriputrametadavocat-dharmataiṣā āyuṣman śāriputra bhagavataḥ
śrāvakāṇāmaniśritadharmāṇām| te yato yata eva paripraśnīkriyante,
tatastata eva niḥsaranti,
dharmatāṁ ca na virodhayanti,
dharmatāyāśca na vyativartante| tatkasya hetoḥ?
yathāpi nāma aniśritattvātsarvadharmāṇām| evamukte āyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmantaṁ subhūtimetadavocat-sādhu sādhu āyuṣman subhūte| katamaiṣā
sarvadharmāniśritapāramitā bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānām?
subhūtirāha-prajñāpāramitaiva āyuṣman śāriputra sārvayānikī,
sarvadharmāniśritatayā sarvadharmāniśritapāramitā ca| iti hi yasya
bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya evaṁ gambhīrāyāṁ prajñāpāramitāyāṁ
bhāṣyamāṇāyāmevaṁ deśyamānāyāmevamupadiśyamānāyāṁ na bhavati cittasya
avalīnatvam, na
bhavati kāṅkṣāyitatvam,
na bhavati dhaṁdhāyitatvam,
na bhavati cittasyānyathātvam,
veditavyamayaṁ bodhisattvo mahāsattvo viharatyanena
prajñāpāramitāvihāreṇa avirahitaścānena manasikāreṇeti||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputra
āyuṣmataṁ subhūtimetadavocat-kathamāyuṣman subhūte avirahito bodhisattvo
mahāsattvo'virahito manasikāreṇa bhavati,
yaḥ prajñāpāramitāvihāreṇa viharati?
yadi hyāyuṣman subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'virahito manasikāreṇa
bhavati, evaṁ sa
virahitaḥ prajñāpāramitāvihāreṇa bhavati| yadi ca āyuṣman subhūte
avirahito bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāvihāreṇa bhavati,
evaṁ sa virahito manasikāreṇa bhavati| yadi ca āyuṣman subhūte
manasikāreṇāvirahito bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ,
avirahita eva prajñāpāramitāvihāreṇa bhavati| evaṁ sati sarvasattvā
apyavirahitā bhaviṣyanti prajñāpāramitāvihāreṇa| tatkasya hetoḥ?
sarvasattvā api hyavirahitā manasikāreṇa viharanti||
evamukte āyuṣmān
subhūtirāyuṣmantaṁ śāriputrametadavocat-sādhu sādhu āyuṣman śāriputra|
api tu upālapsye tvā| artha eva tvāyuṣmatā śāriputreṇa
bhūtapadābhidhānena parigṛhītaḥ| tatkasya hetoḥ?
sattvāsvabhāvatayā āyuṣman śāriputra manasikārāsvabhāvatā veditavyā|
sattvāsadbhāvatayā āyuṣman śāriputra manasikārāsadbhāvatā veditavyā|
sattvaviviktatayā āyuṣman śāriputra manasikāraviviktatā veditavyā|
sattvācintyatayā āyuṣman śāriputra manasikārācintyatā veditavyā|
sattvānabhisaṁbodhanatayā āyuṣman śāriputra manasikārānabhisaṁbodhanatā
veditavyā| sattvāyathābhūtārthābhisaṁbodhanatayā āyuṣman śāriputra
manasikārāyathābhūtārthābhisaṁbodhanatā veditavyā| anena āyuṣman
śāriputra evaṁrūpeṇa manasikāreṇa icchāmi bodhisattvaṁ mahāsattvaṁ
viharantamanena vihāreṇeti||
