Registration Procedures Print

Registration usually begins six weeks before the first day of instruction. Student admission status must be clarified upon registration. If you are interested in applying for tuition waiver, or scholarship, all documents must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar prior to registration for classes. All payments must be made upon registration.

Any student who has previously taken courses at UWest is classified as a "Continuing Student." Priority registration is given to continuing students. A student who has never taken courses at UWest or who has just been readmitted to the program is classified as a "New Student."

~ Continuing Students can register via the student portal, in person or by mail.
~ New Students must register in person to seek advisement from their faculty department chair.
~ International Students must register in full-time status (9 cr. for GR level & 12 cr. for UG level).

Register via the Student Portal

You may not register via the student portal if you have a registration hold, financial hold, lack of pre-requisite for a course, if it is your first time taking courses at UWest etc…

Step 1: Current students should schedule a meeting with their faculty advisor (during regular office hours) to select classes. Note it is not mandatory to receive clearance or register on paper unless you have a pre-requisite issue. Advisement is always highly recommended.

Step 2: Register via the student portal


Step 3: Print copy of your confirmed registered courses


Step 4: Bring copy of confirmed registration of courses with you to UWest to pay fees

-Note you will be required to seek assistance from Student Life Office with regard to an ID card and Computer Account.
*International Students must also complete the Health Insurance and Information Form as well from the Student Life Office (mandatory for International F-1 students).

Step 5: Once all of the above is completed, head to the Bursar’s Office.

Step 6: Get an early start. Purchase textbooks from the university bookstore.

Register in Person

Step 1: Obtain/download the following forms from the Form Center on line or from the Office of the Registrar.-Registration Form (online at Form Center or Registrar Office)

Step 2: See your Department Advisor for classes that you are required to take.

Step 3: If you do not possess an ID card or Computer Account, please request from the Student Life Office. If you do have an old ID card, obtain a new Student Identification card from the Student Life office (a fee may be assessed).

Step 4: Complete the Health Insurance and Information Form from the Student Life Office. (Mandatory for International F-1 Students)

Step 5: Register at the Office of the Registrar -Two copies of your schedule will be given to you; one for you and one for the Bursar’s Office.

Step 6: Take your class schedule and pay fees at the Bursar's Office (Cashier's Office.) All Fees must be paid upon registration. A $25.00 late fee will apply after the payment deadline. (Payment may be by Cash, Check or Visa/MasterCard Credit Card.)

Step 7: Get an early start. Purchase textbooks from the university bookstore.

Register by Mail

Step 1: Obtain/download the following forms from the Form Center on line or from the Office of the Registrar. International Students are not recommended to register by mail due to the additional health insurance form they must obtain.

-Registration Form (online at Form Center or Registrar Office)
-Student Information Form (Student Life Office)
-Computer Account Form (Student Life Office)

Step 2: See your Department Advisor for classes that you are required to take.

Step 3: Complete all above forms. All information on the forms must be completed. Don't forget to sign and date it!

Step 4: Mail all above forms and enclose all payments. Payment may be sent by cash or check.
