| Howdy, Dean Howe! New Dean of Academic Affairs joins University of the West |

An award-winning scholar and graduate of Stanford University with a Ph.D. in Education (Administration and Policy Analysis), Dean Howe was most recently the Dean of the Graduate and Professional School at Bethune-Cookman University, a historically black college in Florida. Dean Howe has also served as dean for academic divisions at California International Business University in San Diego, Calif. He was an instructor in the School of Business Management at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey; and he was the director of the Leadership-Engagement-Activism-Development (LEAD) Center at UC San Diego. He has also served in leadership and academic positions, both in the United States and Europe, during his nearly 40 year career. Dean Howe has a long history of editing and reviewing academic publications, including his current position as Associate Editor for the International Leadership Journal. His current scholarship project is a history of leadership studies with a focus on the emergence and evolution of the field of leadership studies and on how an understanding of that history can contribute to future knowledge. He is also researching the future of leadership studies with a focus on emerging ideas from the hard sciences. |



ROSEMEAD, Calif. – Oct. 1, 2010 – University of the West welcomed William S. Howe, III, Ph.D., as its new Dean of Academic Affairs on Friday, Oct. 1., as part of the university’s overall strategic objective to improve academic quality and student learning outcomes.
