|Venerable Master Hsing Yun Honored with Doctor of Social Sciences Degree|

Venerable Master Hsing Yun, Founder of University of the West, was honored at the 182nd Congregation of the University of Hong Kong on March 11. He received the Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa, which was presented, by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee TSUI.
The honorary degree was awarded in recognition of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s distinguished service and contributions to humanitarian and philanthropic causes around the world.
The University of Hong Kong credited the Venerable Master for the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism and for being one of the forefront leaders in the modern reformation of Buddhism, by opening monasteries, universities and schools around the world, as well as engaging in religious dialogue amongst other Buddhist sects and religious orders.
