This scholarship was established by Mr. Mike Wong, in dedication to his two immensely important teachers, Venerable Man Kuang and Man Ching of the Fo Guang Shan order. Her Their kindness and wisdom have taught Mr. Mike Wong the need for a greater presence of female teachers in Buddhism. The female Leadership Scholarship hopes to inspire our female students to reach their full potential, becoming a benefit to the Dhamma and the world. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a female student, with priority first going to those enrolled in Divinity in Buddhist Chaplaincy program and secondly to the Religious Studies program. This scholarship is not available to students enrolled in any other programs. Open to UWest undergraduate and graduate full-time students, including those in their last semester. Awards are given based on financial need, academic performance, and character. Candidates maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scales. |
