Matthew L. Stitzer was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where his parents went to teach Physiology at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School. Matt has a broad range of corporate and legal experience, ranging from mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, to complex derivatives and securities work. Currently, he serves as Associate General Counsel of Schroders Investment Management North America Inc., a UK-based investment management firm with over US$300 billion in assets under management, where, among other functions, he is the lead counsel for Latin America. Matt graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. (with distinction) in Interdisciplinary Studies, and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School. Upon graduation from law school, he worked at the New York-based law firm, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where he specialized in an international corporate practice. Prior to law school, Matt worked at the U.S. Department of State in both Washington D.C. and Florence, Italy as a desk officer and consular extern, respectively. Matt also has significant volunteer experience and worked at a New York-based NGO focused on humanitarian development work. Matt is a native English and Spanish speaker and is fluent in Italian and Portuguese. |
