A native Californian thru and thru, David was born, raised, and still resides in the Boyle Heights section of East Los Angeles. His family was one of the first of Mexican heritage to move into the area, and he lives in what has been the family home for close to a century.
David is an alumnus of Don Bosco Technical Institute (a stone’s throw from UWest), where he completed his secondary education, and earned his Associate of Science Degree. He went on to attend the California State University at Los Angeles, where he earned both his Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees.
An educator for more than twenty years, David has had the privilege of working in public, private, and non-public special education settings with students ranging from elementary to university level. He initially became affiliated with UWest several years ago via the Summer PACE program, and ultimately came on board as an ESL faculty member in September ’11. To say that he is happy to be part of the UWest Family is truly an understatement!
David loves to travel, and enjoys as many good laughs as he can pack into the day. He coaches high school baseball at his alma mater, and enjoys relaxing with Boogie & Beast (his two Pit Bulls) after a long day. During the major league baseball season, you will find David spending quality time at Chavez Ravine, where he works as an Assistant Manager of Security and Guest Services for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
