The Department of Psychology at the University of the West invites applications for an assistant professor position in the field of clinical/counseling psychology. Well qualified and highly motivated individuals are encouraged to apply. The University of the West is a small private university accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The mission of the University is to provide a “whole person” education, and to facilitate cultural understanding and appreciation between the East and West. The curriculum of the psychology program offered by the Department of Psychology is designed to introduce students to both Eastern and Western systems of psychological theories and practices. Qualifications This position requires a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program; completion of an APA/APPIC-accredited internship; licensure in CA or the ability to be licensed; record of excellence or potential in teaching; a demonstrated history of high quality scholarly research and the potential to continue a research program; a commitment to quality teaching and scholarship at a university with a commitment to multiculturalism. All but Dissertation (ABD) candidates may be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Those with expertise in behavioral health psychology and/or marriage and family therapy are especially encouraged to apply. The University of the West offers a collaborative and international working environment. The candidate will participate in the growth of the University as it enters a new phase of expansion after a recent productive accreditation visit by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
