|Spring 2011 semester starts off smoothly|

University of the West classes started Tuesday Jan. 18 for the spring semester after the campus was closed the day before for UWest first official closure honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Director of Student Life Thomas Thing ran an informative Orientation for new students, who got to see the Student Success Center (tutoring center) and the Library operations in full swing.
A week of activities is planned for the start of spring semester 2011. A barbecue lunch will be served at noon on Friday, Jan. 21 in the cafeteria. Students will also be able to sign up for clubs at this event.
At 1 p.m. on Friday, UWest President Dr. C.S. Wu and the Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. William Howe personally greet students and talk about the upcoming year in Exhibition Hall (Room ED 213). The president will then have a reception at 2 p.m., followed by an orientation event for new international students at 3 p.m.
