Buddhist Geeks Conference 2011

University of the West is proud to announce that it is a conference partner in Buddhist Geeks : The Conference, which will be held on campus July 29th-31st.

The event “brings together some of the most exciting teachers, leaders and thinkers from the US and beyond as Buddhist Geeks continues its ongoing mission to discover the emerging face of Buddhism.”

Among those who will participate in the conference are Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Shinzen Young, Trudy Goodman, Ken McLeod, Diane “Musho” Hamilton, Hokai Sobol, Diana Winston, and UWest’s Buddhist Chaplaincy Program Coordinator Rev. Danny Fisher.
“This will definitely be a big event in Buddhist America in 2011, and it’s really, really exciting that we’re both a partner in and host for this,” Professor Fisher said.
Buddhist Geeks is an immensely popular digital media project that “includes a free digital magazine and popular weekly audio program [featuring] interviews and discussions with some of the most influential teachers and luminaries in the Western Buddhist world.”  Listen to the Buddhist Geeks’ past interview with Danny here, and their interview with UWest Emeritus President Dr. Lewis R.
