In the past month, UWest’s VITA program has been a great success. It has helped more than 200 people. Through this program’s services, many local residents as well as UWest staff/students received tax refunds from the IRS and CA State. Many of them received money from the IRS as Earned Income Credits.
Currently there are 16 volunteers in the program, including UWest students, alumni, and several local community people. All volunteers are very dedicated.
Besides the services offered on campus, UWest’s VITA program plans to offer services at Hsi Lai Temple on Saturday, March 10, 10am-4pm and at Rosemead City (Garvey Center) on Friday, March 16, 9:30am-12:30pm. The service at Garvey Center is co-organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Rosemead.
