University of the West’s highly acclaimed Department of Buddhist Chaplaincy has recently accepted an invitation for partnership with the Chaplaincy Innovation Lab (CIL), as part of its Advisory group. Located at Brandeis University, the CIL partners include, in addition to UWest, Boston University and Brandeis University. TCIL invites chaplaincy leaders, theological educators, clinical educators, and social scientists to engage in research-based initiatives about the current state of chaplaincy and spiritual care. Within the ever-changing religious landscape of the U.S., the CIL is focused on ways to improve how chaplains are trained and work with people of diverse religious and spiritual backgrounds, as well as those without such backgrounds. Membership in the CIL will provide the Buddhist Chaplaincy Department greater national and international visibility, bringing University of the West greater public recognition and cache.
