Dear UWest Community:

In light of the new guidelines issued from the State of California, it is very important that the University continues to address the current issue with COVID-19.  Please be assured that we do not have any identified cases of COVID-19 on our campus or in the immediate community.  In response to the evolving situation, the University has developed a safety plan so that students can safely continue their learning.

The University will suspend instruction on Monday and Tuesday, March 16 and 17, 2020 to allow faculty to make final preparation to deliver courses remotely.  Some classes may continue to be held face-to-face on campus if other methods of delivery are not appropriate.  In these cases, the practices associated with social distancing will be implemented.  Remote instruction shall remain in place through, at least, Sunday, April 12, 2020.

Starting March 18, 2020, instruction shall resume remotely.  However, University campus and offices will remain open for business.  Students without appropriate technology or study space may come onto the campus and use the resources such as Student Success Center, computer lab, and the library.  Faculty members needing support in technology use may contact the IT Office for training or other assistance.  Students should expect more information from their respective professors regarding this new mode of instruction.

Residence and Dining Halls shall remain open.  The Café will cease its operations as of Monday, March 16, 2020 until further notice. All academic and student events are suspended at this time. Please be advised that all travel using University resources will not supported.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as we deem necessary.  Please continue to access our website at for more information and the latest updates.  Thank you for your patience in these challenging times.  Please be assured that we are doing everything possible to allow the University to continue supporting teaching and learning for our UWest community.  Your cooperation and assistance are greatly appreciated!
