Learn TESOL – Teaching English Worldwide

What is TESOL?

TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. It concerns teaching English to non-native English speakers both abroad and in English-speaking countries.

The certificate program trains you in the theory behind language acquisition and the practical skills needed to teach English to speakers of other languages. This is the ideal path for you if you’re interested in teaching at language institutes, in community education, or if you’re interested in going abroad to other countries. It’s also an excellent way to diversify your undergraduate or graduate degree: this certificate is available both as a standalone program and to degree-seeking students of any major at UWest.

The UWest TESOL certificate meets the STANDARDS» for Short-Term TEFL/TESL Certificate Programs as outlined by the TESOL International Association. Click HERE» to learn more about TESOL Certification.

  • Length of program: Two semesters (one year)
  • Modality: In person
  • Not F-1 visa eligible as standalone (however F-1 students pursuing a degree at UWest may additionally enroll in this certificate program)
