Minimum Admissions Standards
To ensure each of our incoming students is prepared to succeed at UWest, we seek applicants who meet the following minimum prior grade point average (GPA) requirements:

Transfer Credit Policy
*Note: Students must be in good standing, free from academic or disciplinary probation or suspension.
Credit Acceptance
UWest accepts up to 90 semester units (135 quarter units) from accredited institutions, including a maximum of 70 semester units (105 quarter units) from community colleges.
Grade Requirements
Only courses with a grade of C (2.0) or higher are eligible for transfer.
Advanced Placement (AP)
AP exam credits are recognized; however, credits from other national testing services are generally not accepted.
A Degree with a Guarantee
UWest proudly participates in the ADT program, streamlining the transfer process for California community college students.

Optimize Your Transfer Credits
- IGETC/CSU Certification: Completing the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or California State University (CSU) certification fulfills UWest’s general education requirements, except for the capstone course.
- Recommendation: While IGETC certification is advisable, it’s not mandatory. Students without IGETC can still transfer; individual course evaluations will determine transferable credits.
Application Process
1. Complete the Application
- Fill out the online application form.
- Pay Application fee – The $50 fee for domestic students or $100 fee for international students is non-refundable. Payment may be made by check, credit card, or through the online application. Please make checks out to University of the West.
2. Preliminary Transcript Evaluation
- Submit unofficial transcripts for an initial assessment of transferable credits.
- Email transcripts to admissions@uwest.edu.
3. Submit Official Documents
- Personal Statement – A 400-500 word essay answering the question, “What skills and attitudes do you believe are necessary for a successful life?”
- Diploma – Copies of an official high school diploma, or its equivalent.
- Identification – Copy of legal photo identification (e.g. driver’s license, state ID, passport), along with a Social Security card and Permanent Resident card, if applicable.
4. Await Admission Decision
- Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Decisions are communicated via email within 4-6 weeks.
