Additional Student Emergency Grants (HEERF III)

Written By University of the West Author

The UWest Financial Aid Office is pleased to share that UWest has received the third allocation of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III), authorized by American Rescue Plan 2021, to provide additional emergency grants to students. The funds are intended to assist students with their educational costs or any emergency expenses incurred due to Coronavirus, such as food, housing, course materials, healthcare (including mental health care), and childcare.

After thorough strategic planning under the guidance of the U.S. Department of Education, we anticipate beginning distributing the HEERF III student grants in August. An email announcement with more information about the HEERF III student grants will be sent to your UWest email account. So please be sure to check your email!

2021-22 FAFSA Reminder

While we waited for guidance from the U.S. Department of Education, we worked to determine how best to allocate the HEERF III money in alignment with guidance from Congress to prioritize grants for students with the most need. We use FAFSA data to determine the amount of the HEERF III student grants. If you haven’t submitted your 2021-22 FAFSA, it is important for you to do it as soon as possible. UWest’s School Code is 03696300.
