Bodhi Tree Planting Ceremony

UWest cordially invites the UWest community and beyond to attend a special Bodhi Tree Planting Ceremony, hosted and organized by the Department of Religious Studies and REL Graduate Council, on Friday, November 19, at 10am.

The Bodhi Tree is an important symbol in Buddhism, as it was under this tree that the historical Buddha achieved awakening. Planting trees is also a metaphor for many other traditions. As such, this ceremony is included in the weeklong International Education & Interfaith Week celebration at UWest.

The Bodhi Tree Planting Ceremony will include an opening blessing by Ven. Abbot Hui Dong of Hsi Lai Temple. Local dignitaries as well as representatives of other religious traditions will be in attendance to mark the occassion.

Everyone is welcomed.
