UWest was represented in five panel discussions at this year’s American Academy of Religion annual conference, held in San Antonio, TX from November 20 to 23.
Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Jane Iwamura, took part in three panels, including one that celebrated the 10th anniversary of her groundbreaking book, Virtual Orientalism: Asian Religions and American Popular Culture. (Dr. Iwamura will be offering a talk on her book for ISHB on Dec. 6.)
Director of the Institute for the Study of Humanistic Buddhism, Dr. Jens Reinke, participated in two panels, including a selection as an Emerging Voice in the Study of Chinese Religion by the Society for the Study of Chinese Religions.
