Dear UWest Students:

We are two weeks away from the end of the spring semester.  I wish to thank each and every one of you for your quick adaptation of a new learning method.  We appreciate your willingness to work with us during this unprecedented circumstance.  We know you are busy taking the finals and for some of you, getting ready to wrap up your university careers.  Of course, some of you may be packing up to go home for the summer.  We wish you all the best.

The University is still open for university business and we are offering a summer session.  Please go online to check out the summer courses.  All of them will be offered entirely online except a newly added BUS 320, Organization and Management, which will be offered via remote instruction.

Please be informed officially that the University administration has made a decision to offer remote instruction during the fall semester.  We know we have students who are still out of the country, out of state, or simply far from the University to be sheltered at home.  With the uncertainty of when the “Safer at Home” order will be lifted completely in Los Angeles County, we don’t anticipate many of the students will be able to be here on campus in an instant.  We know that the US visa offices around the world are not fully operational, and the airlines will not be able to  resume normal business instantly.  To offer remote instruction in the fall is the best scenario at this time.

At the meantime, please kindly pay attention to all the correspondences that are coming your way via emails.  Please also access our University website at www.uwest.edu for any updates.

We wish to congratulate those of you who will be graduated.  We are saddened to have to cancel the Commencement ceremony.  Please know that we wish you all the best and great future.  We have plans to honor you in the near future.  Please come back and visit us and remember to support the communities that have supported you.

The campus has grown quieter without you and we are eagerly await your return with your smiling faces soon.  Please stay safe and positive.  We hope to see you soon!

Sincerely,

Dr. Chou

Chiung-Sally Chou, Ph.D.

Interim President
