Join us on December 10, 2021 to kick off Tamale Season!
UWest’s Tamalada event will include a tamale making session starting at 2 p.m., led by senior Liberal Arts major, Samantha Vargas. Everyone is invited to partake. Both savory and sweet tamales are on the menu. The eating portion of the program begins at 4 p.m., followed by a screening of everyone’s favorite Christmas-time movie, Die Hard.
This event is sponsored by El Pavo Bakery. Founded in 1962 by Mexican immigrant, Don Pedro Vasquez, El Pavo is a small family business that specializes in home-made products that bring people together. From cakes, pan dulce, to Mexican food, El Pavo use the highest quality ingredients and create art with everything that they do. UWest is proud to partner with El Pavo to create community-centric events like Tamalada.
We are also including a food and warm clothes drive benefiting Foothill Unity Center with this event. Foothill Unity helps individuals and families in need with life-saving programs, which is especially needed during the holidays. Consider dropping off can foods and old clothes into donation boxes located throughout campus.
