Strategic Plan
The UWest 2025-2028 Strategic Plan
United by an aspirational vision from our founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan outlines a bold and collaborative path forward, reaffirming the university’s Buddhist identity and solidifying its standing in the landscape of American higher education. University of the West updated and adopted our 2025-2028 Strategic Plan in Spring 2025, after a 12-month period of extensive consultation with stakeholders across the university.
The 2025-2028 Strategic Plan focuses on the following four goals
1. Buddhist Identity: Establish the university as a leading institution that provides an education informed by Buddhist wisdom and values.
2. Financial Growth: Strengthen our fiscal future through robust marketing and diversify revenue streams.
3. Student Success: Support and prepare students for success in life and career.
4. Modernizing Facilities: Modernize campus facilities and technological infrastructure.
The UWest community is characterized by interdependence, a central Buddhist concept that underscores the importance of our connections to and impact upon others. We view our strategic goals through this same lens; all areas of focus are intrinsically connected to one another, and strengthening one means strengthening the whole. This strategic focus on solidifying our Buddhist identity, fiscal future, student support systems, and physical and technological infrastructure, moves UWest closer to the fulfillment of our mission.
