Minimum Transfer Admission Requirements
Transfer applicants to University of the West must have a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.0. Applicants should also be in good academic and disciplinary standing at their previous institution.

University of the West helps transfer students make the most of eligible college credit while providing a clear path toward completing a bachelor’s degree.
How Many Credits Can I Transfer?
UWest accepts up to 90 semester units (135 quarter units) from accredited institutions. Up to 70 semester units (105 quarter units) may be transferred from community colleges.
Minimum Grade for Transfer Credit
Courses must have a grade of C (2.0) or higher to be eligible for transfer credit.
Advanced Placement (AP) Credit
UWest recognizes eligible Advanced Placement (AP) exam credits. Credits from other national testing services are generally not accepted.
Transfer Evaluation
Final transfer credit evaluation is completed after admission and may depend on course content, accreditation, and how prior coursework applies to your degree program.
California Community College Transfer Students
University of the West participates in California’s Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program, providing a streamlined pathway for eligible California community college students transferring into a related bachelor’s degree program.
Students who complete the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or California State University (CSU) General Education certification can fulfill UWest’s general education requirements, with the exception of the required capstone course.
How to Apply as a Transfer Student
Complete Your Application
Submit the UWest undergraduate application and required application fee.
Submit Official Transcripts
Provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended.
Submit Required Documents
Provide any additional documents required for your admission status or intended degree program.
Review Your Transfer Credits
After admission, UWest will evaluate eligible prior coursework and determine how your transfer credits apply toward your degree.
Prepare for Your First Semester
Once admitted, use the After Admissions Checklist to confirm enrollment, register for classes, explore financial aid and housing, and prepare to begin at UWest.
