Faculty Profile

Dr. Joanne Kwoh-Maysami is Associate Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at University of the West. She is also a registered psychological associate with The Scheiner Group.

Dr. Kwoh earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program at Jackson State University in Mississippi in 2021. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at IMCES, an APA-accredited training site in Los Angeles, California.

For her dissertation, Dr. Kwoh explored factors that contribute to resilience and coping among sexual and gender minority (SGM) communities, including the roles of “coming out” and community connectedness.
